In this work, different approaches for evaluating the surface condition of urban pavements are presented, based on concepts derived from traditional expedited survey techniques, as well as on spatial analysis and geoprocessing methodologies. From this issue, a case study was developed along Avenida Segismundo Pereira, in the city of Uberlândia/MG, Brazil, where information associated with the frequency, intensity and location of pathological manifestations of the pavement surface was collected, with based on subjective evaluation, and with the aid of geoprocessing techniques and
statistical procedures for spatial analysis. Through the results obtained, it was observed that the pavement surface of the analyzed avenue is in a predominantly good condition. However, this condition does not extend to the stretches of the avenue inserted in regions subject to changes in the pattern of land use and occupation, the intensity and composition of typical traffic, in which the condition of the pavement surface was
diagnosed as being poor or very bad.
