A PERCEPÇÃO DE MOTORISTAS E ENGENHEIROS DE TRÁFEGO SOBRE A SEGURANÇA EM CRUZAMENTOS URBANOS

Abstract

Os países desenvolvidos já utilizaram, com sucesso, a maioria das técnicas e soluções de curto prazo e baixo custo, na tentativa de controlar o problema dos acidentes de transito. Atualmente, eles enfrentam a dificuldade em avançar nesse sentido: melhorias significativas serão difíceis de serem alcançadas se não houver uma compreensão mais ampla e profunda do processo que leva a ocorrência de um acidente. Para os países como o Brasil que ainda enfrentam problemas decorrentes de uma infraestrutura viária deficiente, já é chegado o momento de se buscar novas abordagens com relação a segurança de transito. Neste sentido, os estudos voltados para a percepção dos usuários vêm contribuir para uma melhor compreensão das suas atitudes no transito e de seu envolvimento nos acidentes. Nesta pesquisa exploratória, foram entrevistados 60 motoristas do sexo masculino e 13 técnicos em Engenharia de Trafego. O primeiro grupo analisou 21 cruzamentos na cidade de São Paulo e o segundo grupo oito destas interseções. Como resultado, foram identificadas as principais características destas interseções que, segundo a percepção de cada grupo, podem estar relacionadas com a ocorrência de acidentes de transito nestes locais.
