Guidelines for manuscript preparation
As part of the submission process, authors are required to ensure that their submission adheres to the guidelines outlined below. Submissions that do not comply with these instructions will be returned to the authors by the editorial office.
Compliance with Editorial Policies
By submitting a manuscript, authors declare their complete understanding and full agreement with the editorial policies of Transportes, particularly those pertaining to authorship and author roles, prior publication, and standards of ethics and best practices in publication.
Original Submissions
Transportes publishes only original and unpublished articles. Upon submitting, authors must clearly state that the manuscript is original and has not been previously published, nor is it currently being reviewed by any other periodical or conference. If the manuscript, or a significant portion thereof, has been previously published (even as an abstract or extended abstract) in a conference proceeding or any other publication, authors must provide the relevant details in the “Comments to the Editor” section and notify the editor via the email generated by the system.
Initial Submission Format (Free Format)
For the initial submission, authors have flexibility in the format and layout of their manuscript. While specific formatting is not required at this stage, the manuscript must include all standard sections of a scientific article (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, etc.).
All parts of the manuscript (text, figures, tables, and references) must be contained within a single file, with a maximum size of 12 MB, and must not include any author identification. The file may be submitted in .docx, .rtf, or .pdf format.
Manuscript Length
The manuscript should not exceed 8000 words, including the title (maximum 120 characters, including spaces), abstract (maximum 250 words), keywords (3-5), main text, and references. Each table or figure is considered equivalent to 200 words.
References
For the initial submission, authors may use any bibliographic reference style, provided that the chosen style is applied consistently throughout the text. All references cited in the text must be included in the reference list, and vice versa.
Author Declarations
In the initial submission, authors must provide the following declarations in a separate document:
- CRediT Authorship Contribution Statement: This statement should describe the individual contribution of each author according to the roles defined in the CRediT taxonomy. All authors must also affirm their agreement with these descriptions for themselves and their co-authors.
- Declaration on the Use of Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Technology: This declaration should explain how and in which sections of the text authors utilized AI-assisted technologies in the submission. It must also state that the authors assume responsibility for all content generated with the assistance of these technologies, or alternatively, that no AI-assisted technology was used in the research and preparation of the text.
- Declaration of Competing Interests: In this declaration, authors must disclose any and all competing interests related to the research or, if applicable, state that no competing interests exist.
In the final version of the manuscript, these declarations should appear between the end of the main text and the acknowledgments section.
Revised Version Format
Should the manuscript be accepted in the first round of review or require submission for another round, authors will be required to prepare a revised version of the manuscript formatted according to a specific set of instructions that will be provided at the conclusion of the first review round.
Copyright Statement
By submitting a manuscript for publication in this journal, all its authors agree, in advance and unconditionally, to the following terms:
- The authors retain the copyright and grant Transportes the right of first publication of the manuscript, without any financial charge, and waive any other remuneration for its publication by ANPET.
- Upon submission to Transportes, the manuscript is automatically licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows the work to be shared with recognition of authorship and initial publication in this journal.
- Authors are authorized to enter into additional separate contracts for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the manuscript published in this journal (e.g., publishing in an institutional repository or as a book chapter), with recognition of the initial publication in this journal, provided that such a contract does not imply an endorsement of the content of the manuscript or the new medium by ANPET.
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to publish and distribute their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their personal websites) after the editorial process is complete. As Transportes is open access, authors are encouraged to use links to the DOI of the article in these cases.
- Authors guarantee that they have obtained the necessary authorization from their employers for the transfer of rights under this agreement, if these employers hold any copyright over the manuscript. Additionally, authors assume all responsibility for any copyright infringements by these employers, releasing ANPET and Transportes from any responsibility in this regard.
- Authors assume full responsibility for the content of the manuscript, including the necessary and appropriate authorizations for the disclosure of collected data and obtained results, releasing ANPET and Transportes from any responsibility in this regard.
Article Processing Charge
Transportes, in line with its support for open science, provides universal and free access to all articles. This free and universal access is possible through an article processing charge (APC).
The APC is charged only after the article is accepted for publication, at the end of the evaluation process. There are no charges for submitting or evaluating manuscripts, as this fee is used to cover a portion of the final production costs for the articles.
The APC is periodically reviewed. For articles accepted for publication from October 2022 onwards, the APC is:
- BRL 850.00 for articles published in Portuguese; and
- BRL 650.00 for articles published in English.
Articles whose authors, with the exception of one, are ANPET members in good standing with their membership dues are entitled to a 50% discount on the APC.
ANPET will provide authors with the necessary documentation to demonstrate the payment of the APC to postgraduate programs, research funding agencies, and other institutions.
Once the article has been accepted for publication, ANPET's executive office will send a proforma invoice to the corresponding author with payment instructions. Editing and typesetting of the final draft will begin upon payment of the APC.
